Media:  chinese watercolor and ink on watercolor canvas
Dimensions:  2"x3"
Date of Work:  07/2008

For the Ripped Off Show 2008, this is my rip of Sam "eclectic elements" wonderful work, both in photography and jewelry. I loved her photos she's been taking of her first cat, and I also love her unique jewelry using mahjong tiles. So, I combined the two and used chinese brushwork technique to make my own mahjong tile. One side depicts a portrait of her cat, whom she has had for 10 years this year, hence the chinese character for "10" above. The other side also bears the chinese character for 10, and in red, the character for "feline". This piece was created using chinese watercolor and ink on watercolor canvas, mounted onto a wooden block. Hope you enjoy this rip, Sam, I thoroughly enjoyed creating this!
