Amanda's work

Media:  acrylics on river rock
Dimensions:  4"x3"
Date of Work:  07/2009

Inspired by the work of EBSQ artist Amanda Makepeace, and created for the EBSQ Ripped-Off Show 2009. Amanda creates such wonderful works inspired by nature. She has a love of rocks as I do, only we create in different ways...she creates depictions of them, I create by using them as my canvas. The piece I painted is a rip of two works of Amanda's that I own....."The Path", a beautiful painting of rocks, and "Lazy Days", a fabulous pen and ink of another of Amanda's favorite subjects, frogs. I decided to do a river rock portrait of a Red-eyed Tree Frog, resting for a moment on a river rock. I loved the natural dark charcoal color of this stone and kept it as such, only painting the brightly-colored frog and his shadow.
