In this painting I attempted to update the traditional still life without completely losing its visual reference. Using exaggerated contemporary colors and linear placement of the fruit, I endeavored to focus the eye on the irregularity and imperfect beauty of the three interrelated yet independent subjects, forcing them further into prominence and importance by the use of complementary colors between background and foreground, as well as, exaggerated and unnatural lighting and shadow.
