Some experimenting with realism and still life. These are pots that I purchase while living in Denver, at one of my favorite places, the Mile High Flea Market. They are common utility pots made by the Tarahumara Indians, who live in the Copper Canyon region of Mexico. Along with these I also purchased an effigy pot, a pot made with the likeness of a person's head on top with an opening for the insertion of herbs, used for sending the dead into the great beyond. I lugged these three pots around the flea market and then onto the plane enroute home in my carry on luggage so that they wouldn't break. Once I married, my husband hated the effigy pot and one day it mysteriously "broke." But these two survived and are among my most treasured possesions.
