A few months ago, like many EBSQ artists, I took part in the Art by the Inch challenge. One of the group projects was to make a mandala, and this is the piece I created. The skull, or calavera, in the center was cast in plaster, painted and attached to the wood plaque. The patterns and embellishments are acrylic. I chose the colors and theme to celebrate El Dia de los Muertos, and I nicknamed the piece affectionately, "The Shield of Death".
