This piece was a project for a contest about landscapes. I decided to do a portrait of the forgotten landscape, a cemetery. The girl stands poised looking towards her black/white/grey destiny of death, but is reminded of her youth by the blossoming cherry trees. She is adorned in the color of death while being protected by her youth umbrella seen in pink. The piece is torn paper glued to an acidfree matboard, then sparingly painted with watercolor to give it a dreamlike effect.
The piece is double matted using Nielson and Bainbridge Artcare matting in black/white to give an overal size of 40" X 20".
