I am a retired 62 year old Colorado native and live with my wife Donna in Pueblo West, Colo. We have a combined family of 5 children and 6 grandchildren. I had always been artistic as a child but never pursued that talent and went the direction of one of my other talents, vocal music. I was a choir director in our local church for several years but brought home our bread and butter by way of a career in machining for 34 years.
I haven't had any formal art instruction or study but considered to be self-taught. As yet I have not stayed with any particular painting style but I enjoy painting landscapes, animals, birds, and florals using mostly oils and acrylics. I tend to paint with a realistic touch, as I am very impressed by those who can paint something to the point of looking absolutely true to life or photographic, and to me that takes an extremely talented person. I hope to reach that point some day. My artwork is usually applied on stretched canvas but have painted items on wood, stone, metal and leather.
Now that I am retired, I have been pursuing my longtime interests in woodworking. I have more time to spend in my little shop and have also joined a local AAW (American Association of Woodturners) club. I only wish I had started this earlier as I have discovered that my artistic abilities coupled with my many years as a machinist have proven to be most interesting. To my surprise, I have been able to project my creativity and my ability to do well with my hands in this new found art and my friends tell me I am able to produce woodturning pieces that are on the level of the little more advanced in this genre. Please follow my progress as I begin to enter images of this new-found art on this site.
If you like or are touched by my paintings or woodwork in any way, I would appreciate your requests, comments, words of instruction, or criticism by emailing me at: dananddonna@comcast.net
