As a young child I found an interest in drawing the details of people’s facial expressions and poses. My father who also had an interest in drawing and practiced drawing the human form was the first to teach me how to compose the human figure in the correct proportions and how to define the muscle and bone structure of the face, arms, legs, hands and feet. Adding color to my drawings came later during grade school with the help of my art teachers who I admired and appreciated for spending the time to show me color coordination and display my drawings for the public to see. During my teenage years I enrolled in every art class that I was allowed to enroll in during middle school and high school. I learned how to improve my drawing skills and was introduced to painting in different mediums. I practiced by drawing and painting made-up comical characters, family, the ceramic angels and pictures of angels my mother had all over the house and the birds, trees and ocean I would see when going on family camping trips to state parks and the beach. As a young adult my career outlook took a change and I ended up working in the clerical field for many years. It wasn’t until later in life that I began and finished college to pursue my artistic path. My art represents a lifetime of experience of what I have known and seen from my past and combined with the new of today. It is in the boundaries of realism and fantasy expressing human emotions, special moments in life with a sprinkle of nature and an urge to examine touch. It is my very own magical recipe of knowledge to create the art that represents my life’s building blocks and to continue creating as I add another block of knowledge to my life.
