This piece is about the constraints we feel as human beings ...and how we dream of flying. I choose a "Victorian" looking woman to illustrate the artificial, orderly and uptight emotions of that time particularly for women, and the antithesis of that...a beautiful bird...ready to be free and fly. I tend to use text in a lot of my digital pieces for two reasons. One, it can convey a stronger message than sometimes comes with just an image. Secondly, I like the look of text...the flow of the letter, the word, the punctuation. It doesn't always have to be readable...just the form sometimes is beautiful. I used text in this piece for both reasons...it added a meaningful message and the color and form of the text completed the composition.
