I chose to create this image from Steinbeck's novel, "The Red Pony" the story of a young boy going through the responsibility of caring for his horse. The horse in turn teaches him about joy, sorrow, friendship and strength. I wanted to convey the grace, beauty and elegance of this horse. Even though it was a small horse in the story...it was bursting with spirit.
