Artist Sonya Paz is creating a new direction in the Pop Art
Movement through her exuberant use of color and playful forms. Bold shapes and vibrant colors leap off her canvases, while her images explode in an energetic and wildly whimsical style
Sonya's paintings and vivid images are a reflection of her California roots and her active lifestyle. Her positive, creative attitude and passionate expression represent an optimistic view of the world. Her works are inspired by Picasso, Braque, Leger, and Warhol, and seasoned by traveling the world to study art and its history.
Sonya has a passion for Modern Art, Pop Art, Cubism, and Surrealism. These influences can be seen in her work, where traditional styles compete with wacky pop art images of the past 25 years.
Sonya is a member of the Artists Guild of San Francisco, and her art has been published by the Bentley Publishing Group. Over the past few years her art has been exhibited at a number of venues; these include Gordon Biersch, City Lights Cafe, Willow Glen Coffee Roasting Company, Art21 Gallery, Shaer Gallery and the Tied House Restaurants.
Sonya was recently represented by Bacchus and Venus Gallery in Sausalito, and her works are on display in galleries in the Napa and Livermore Valleys, local wineries, and in various restaurants around the country. Sonya has donated art and worked with many charities to raise funds. She has also painted two sharks that were auctioned at the SharkByte Art Event in downtown San Jose.
Sonya has established a solid private and corporate clientele. Her works of art have been acquired by many collectors throughout the United States and can be found in collections in Canada, Great Britain, France, Spain, Italy, Australia, Japan and Germany. Sonya is a native Californian. She lives in San Jose.
