I never plan a piece, I just go with the inspiration. My intention is to create something never seen in this world that may exist in another reality. I think trees are a divine creation that reveal the largest symbol of what all physical things are made of... simply lines and circles or ones/zero's, male/female. One limb of a tree is both male and female, like a person's finger. You can visualize it if you point at yourself. Looking around the circumference of your finger (or a tree limb) you see the circle, the female womb, the zero. Looking at your finger straight up and down you will see the line, the one, the male symbol. I believe all things in creation are simply one thing, both male/female, one/zero, in/out... Trees are a large symbol of the One that is everything. I paint the roots above ground and I leave empty space between the trunks because I want you to feel connected to the tree, the earth and what lies beyond. I want you to feel connected to all things as you are. The technique I paint with is simple. I use an old brush dipped in paint and let it run off onto the canvas while using sweeping motions to make lines. I drip paint and throw paint. I rarely use brush strokes any more. i paint with enamel, acrylic, and oils on canvas. I've been painting for as long as I can remember on anything I could find, usually large spherical shapes and designs on canvas and masonite. I paint a lot from my imagination of what I dream other worlds may hold. when I approach a work I try to move my conscious mind out of the way and let the creative take over. When that happens, or rather IF that happens... something sublime comes through and I feel grateful to be a small part of the process. I'm not into the cult of personality and feel all personalities should be recognized. I believe we are all emerging artists of one kind or another, creating with our hands, words and thoughts. I see the mother who cooks a meal, the carpenter or business person, the doctor or lawyer, etc., as artists... making art out of their available ingredients, turning various materials into desirable things. some get more credit as "artists" than others but I believe we all have creativity and I value all. My art has been called non-perspective and abstract but i'll leave it to others to define what kind of painter I am as I'm always growing, changing too much to define myself. I have no one artist that I'm more influenced by but feel touched by all that comes in through the senses. the patterns in nature, the stars above, the design of fruits, poetry... everything inspires me.
