Many years ago while working for a veterinarian, a little girl had come in with her mother to put their 16 yr. old kitty (who was suffering from kidney failure) to sleep. She came to my desk and asked me if kitties go to heaven when they die? I looked up at her mother and she was nodding her head, so I guessed the little girl was wanting a second opinion! So I told her that "yes, kitties do go to heaven and there are special angels that come down to take them there cradled safely in their arms." She wanted to know if the kitties were happy to go and I told her "yes, because they are no longer sick and feel like young kitties again." Then she asked me if angels wore socks! I tried not to giggle because she was so serious...but, I had to admit I didn't know if they wore socks or not...she decided that they must or their feet would surely get cold! So, here is one of the special "kitty angels"...socks and all! I created this piece on an 8x10 inch stretched canvas. The stapled sides are painted black so the staples aren't noticeable. I finished it with an acrylic varnish for protection. Some of the paints used in this piece are metallic (like in her hair) or sparkly (like her wings) but they don't show up well in the scan. This is an original painting...not a print!
