Media:  Glass on Wood Panel
Dimensions:  28 1/4" x 22 1/2"
Date of Work:  2006

Insects see differently than we do, with multi-faceted eyes. When I made this, I was thinking - this is what the insect sees. In this case, the spider is inside a divided light window.

I made this piece with silver, copper, turquoise, red, pink mirror. Also used was broken porcelain and a spider jewelry finding. I used white sanded grout which I colored with purple artist colorant.

I don't normally photograph my work with a direct flash, since glass will reflect back at you. But this one, just lit up.

For the substrate (base) I used a recycled cabinet door. These are perfect for ready framed pieces. The frame portion was first textured with black gloss acrylic paint then oversprayed with gloss black spray paint.

This piece is currently for sale through my Etsy Store. You can visit my Etsy Store by clinking the Etsy symbol above, just below my name.
