Media:  costume jewelry on wood
Dimensions:  10" x 10"
Date of Work:  2007

This piece was made specifically for my Mosaic_California Yahoo group's buddy exchange. Once or twice a year, we sign up to exchange mosaic artwork with each other. This year, my buddy was in France.

This mosaic was done on the infamous IKEA 10" mirror using mastic which I colored with black powdered tempura paints. The jewelry pieces (earrings, watches, pendants, pins, necklaces and chains) and other findings were embedded directly into the mastic, leaving no need for grouting. Grouting this type of mosaic can be messy messy messy, due to the nooks and crannies of the jewelry.

The elephant came from an old chainlink belt.
