In Sacramento, every 2nd Sunday there is an antique fair under the freeway near downtown. I love looking through stuff. On this particular trip, I found some 1920 sheet music called, "I Want to Go to the Land Where the Sweet Daddies Grow". The cover page had some fantastic, but faded and stained art.
I took the cover page and placed it on a frame my dad had made for me. I placed waterproof adhesive on the back and front, then laid plate glass over the image. I made sure I got the parts of the image I wanted to show through the most.
After doing this, I decided the cover page art looked Art Nouveau even though it had the 1920's date. I designed the frame portion in an Art Nouveau style. I used Van Gogh glass, black stained glass and white stained glass.
This piece is now available at the Phoenix Gallery in Sacramento, CA. 916-447-1632. The Phoenix Gallery is located at 18th and L Street in downtown Sacramento. 1801 L Street #211.
