Media:  ceramic tile, glass, tesserae
Dimensions:  28" x 38" approx
Date of Work:  December 2000

I made this piece for my fiance - now my husband - as a Christmas gift. Only problem was, I was meeting him in England at his parents for the holidays and couldn't find a suitcase big enought to carry it in. I ended up sending it to Sweden (where he lived a the time) via UPS. I put alot of love in this piece and it shows. Every one of his friends who have seen it, have requested me to make them one. I used an old antique map drawer as the frame. I often buy old drawers, doors or cabinets from the local "Restore" run by Habitat for Humanity as a base for my projects. The center is made with a vintage brooch and although not dipicted a dicroic glass gem I made and ground to fit the center.
