Media:  tempered glass mosaic
Dimensions:  11" x 5" x 3 1/2"
Date of Work:  2006

I began doing a series of themed bottles for my November 2006 show when a friend gave me this decanter sized clear glass bottle. I had been toying with the idea of doing a poison bottle, kind of a Romeo and Juilette theme. However, when I received this bottle, I thought more along the lines of "name your poison".

I created text/labels that said "Warning", "Deadly Poison" (as if there were any other kind) and "Beware" which I place on one side. For the other side I made ones that say "For a Lingering Death, Drink Deeply". I choose "Lingering" as the description because it seemed like an overly dramatic statement.

For the sides, I placed additionally text - kind of the "warning" label which say, "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me." (Psalms)

After applying the text, I covered it with tempered glass and added some minature carved bone skull beads. The glass stopper has a larger resin skull with very intricate carvings. The piece was grouted with black grout and gold metal flake glitter.

This piece is sold: $95
