Hi, and welcome to my EBSQ site. I'd offer to make you a latte or pour a glass of wine to sip while you wander through my portfolio but...I guess that'll have to wait for my 'bricks and mortar' gallery to open.

I started painting in oils about five years ago but before then one of my favourite ways to spend time was to visit galleries and admire the work of other artists. In college I studied Art History extensively and it was there that I fell in love with such artists as Matisse, Modigliani, Edouard Manet, Marc Chagall and many others. Some of my favourite living artists are Berge Missakian, Sabzi, Mike Svob, Jae Dougall and almost everyone represented by the Jenkins/Showler Gallery in White Rock, BC. Google it and you may agree with me!

Living with, and creating art, is an ongoing concern for me. I like to surround myself with beautiful, not necessarily expensive (well, sometimes) things that make me feel happy and remind me of all that the world has to offer. So often 'real life' takes over and we forget to enjoy the simple act of 'being in the moment'. For some it could be the act of preparing a great family meal or planting a flower bed for spring, or wrapping a gift in beautiful paper and adding a handmade bow. For me it's sitting at a warm sunny window and playing with soft juicy oils and applying them to the fresh white canvas. Or messing around with bits of broken porcelain and china and making mosaics to adorn my home.

Darklingthrush, the name I chose for my Gallery, refers to the Thomas Hardy poem of the same name which is about having faith that, amidst the "growing gloom", there is a chance for beauty beyond the horizon.

If I had to sum up my artist's philosophy in one sentence it would have to be that it's okay to experiment or to change your mind as long as you keep moving forward because that brings growth which leads to happiness.
