Blakeslee developed his interest in art in his hometown of Indianapolis. This is where he won a blue ribbon in his first art competition, the Wm. Block Art Festival.
After leaving Indianapolis, Blakeslee was able to travel the world and visit the galleries of Italy, France, Great Britain and the Middle East. He was able to study the works of his favorite artists; Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Claude Monet and other impressionists. He has been heavily influenced by the cubism of Pablo Picasso and the abstract expressionists like Jackson Pollack or Wassily Kandinsky.
Blakeslee earned his undergraduate degree from the University of the State of New York. Before returning to his roots in oil painting, he spent some time as a performance artist. Blakeslee earned his Master of Arts (MA) in 1996 and his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) 2002.
At present, Blakeslee is a college professor in Missouri. He enjoys interacting with the students and watching them learn, develop and flourish. When Blakeslee is not teaching or studying, he spends time in his studio - experimenting with different mediums, styles, colors and techniques.
Blakeslee uses this variety of mediums, styles, colors and techniques to caress the canvas into art. There are not many things more inspiring than putting paint on canvas with large, energetic brush strokes. He combines the abstract style he learned from Pollack with the cubism of Picasso. If you are looking for something like a Thomas Kinkade, you better keep looking.
The works of Blakeslee are currently held in private as well as corporate collections, mostly in the United States. His artwork is still a secret hidden treasure. Ebay is still fertile soil for Blakeslee. His works are still gaining notoriety and value in the world's largest marketplace.
