I would much prefer you to, instead of buying one of my pictures, hire me to make the one you want. The cost would be about the same. My background is in commercial art. I love the rush you get when you deliver to the customer what they wanted, it kind of makes you feel omnipotent. (ha ha) I work mainly from photographs, so it doesn’t matter to me where they come from, as long as I'm not unfairly infringing on anyone elses copyright privileges. I use a lot of photos to do a single picture - not just one. I know how good it feels to have the pictures hanging all over your house be drawings that are not just “pretty” but be of people and places YOU care about.
I work from photographs. What I would need from you is "the face". Those picures where you say, "that's the look! the look that's their chronic expression." Then, it would be helpful a couple of different views of the person, if available. Finally we would need to talk about setting. If the original picture works, that's fine it's more cost effective for you. If you wanted to "transport" that person to a personal location, well there's more personal photos I need. If you live with in 100 mi. of Blacksburg VA, I would like to meet the person and I could take my own photos if you wanted. Or you could be wealthy and pay all my travel expenses someplace exotic. Just kidding.
Price completely is negotiable, as depends on an estimate amount of my time . There must be a contract to protect all our interests, to be finalized before commencement of work.
