I love vegetable gardening, so I took my easel to the community garden and set my wheelbarrow up near the compost bin. Painting a landscape 'Plein Air' is very different from the studio. Outdoors there are so many visual elements vying for attention you can't get it all down. You find yourself filtering out much detail, but you never run out of things to use for your composition. In the studio you work from memory and photos, so the content comes more from inside you then out to the canvas in a more digested form.
