This composition was developed from many photos taken of my friend, who was kind enough to pose for many paintings for me. I pieced this composition together out of many different details, taken at several locations, over several years...including some at the Portland Japanese Gardens. I wanted to capture the light, both on the subjects skin, and in her incredible hands. These are the hands of a therapist/healer, and I wanted the painting to express their beauty, and her nature. I had never painted water before, there were many challenges for me in this piece. This painting took many many months to complete!
