I am doing a series of florals with shells, and this piece has a 9 million year old nautilus fossil embedded in the mat....see the detail.
I have a habit of starting watercolors, and setting them aside for years as I work in other mediums...this one finally got reborn, matted and framed and is in my personal collection.
The lily I painted from was from a garden in Oregon, and I was interested in exploring the idea of the Golden Section, (a spiral mathmatical formula) and how it appears in nature. I began to see it at work in both the shell, and the lily.
