I began painting in watercolor and fell in love with the flow of painting with dyes on silk, so the tactile joy of working with fabric has been a natural progression.
To obtain a desired effect I will incorporate thread painting, acrylic paint, watercolor, oil paint sticks, permanent markers, Tsukineko inks, water soluble pastels, and even Wite-out. Creating art quilts allows me the freedom to draw on all of my skills.
My art quilts are wall hangings to be viewed as art. They are fixed with a sleeve on the upper back for insertion of a dowel for hanging the quilt on the wall. Curtain clips, stretcher frames, picture frames, and other hanging methods can also be used.
Some of the art quilts featured here are for sale. Others are in personal collections. Commissions are always welcome. Please contact me for availability, prices, and commissions at quiltcookie@yahoo.com

Inspiration
My inspiration comes from many places and people, but I am most inspired and excited by architecture, nature, and landscapes. The graceful drape of a willow branch waving in the wind, the dappled sunshine on dogwood leaves in the fall, or a bright red cardinal perched atop a snow-covered branch never cease to intrigue me.
Everything beautiful is not good, but everything good is beautiful.
