Linda Holcomb-Bryant

My early years were spent learning a variety of arts and crafts from my family. They are very talented and creative, so inspiration was always around. I have always enjoyed the process of choosing a design, colors and patterns, and using various mediums to create a final product to be enjoyed for many years. There is great satisfaction in knowing that “I made it myself”.

Having been fascinated by all that glitters and sparkles, my latest passion is making unique, jewelry. In 2004, my intention was to make jewelry as wearable art for myself, and gifts for my family and friends. It is a satisfying feeling to see the final piece along with the creative process of design.

While creating these unique original pieces and shopping in every bead store in the area, I became aware of various artists who design and make lampworked beads & fused glass pendants. I was so fascinated with the gorgeous glass beads, and following my philosophy of “I can do that”, I find I am now immersed in the art of lampwork. I started with a small hot-head torch and a can of MAPP gas. This led to classes at the Eugene Glass School in Eugene, OR. I have since taken classes from Jenny Newtson and Andrea Guarino, who were both so inspiring, that I have invested in the “works”.

Using a Nortel Minor burner, an oxygen concentrator, propane, and an Aim Kiln, I find working with glass to be very exciting, relaxing and rejuvenating in its creative process. I use Moretti Italian glass and Lauscha German glass and I am fascinated by the chemical reaction in the flame. There are many happy surprises. In jewelry design and creating lampworked beads, I have found my niche!
