Place of Refuge is a National Park on the Big Island of Hawaii and has a rich history. It was said hundreds of years ago, that if a person who was in trouble with the king could swim to this sacred part of the island - through shark infested water - he would be absolved of his crimes. I don't believe many people made it.
Even though this landscape is devoid of humans, it seems inhabited - and that perhaps at any moment, camouflaged people will emerge suddenly from within the thicket.
