The Black and White Torso series is a study in the shadows, and light across the female torso. It wraps each one differently.
The interesting thing about this style of painting is the further you step away the more in focus it becomes. The closer you are the more jumbled it looks.
This torso is a more subdue one than the others. The shades of grey don't quite reach the brighness of the others and she is in a much more guarded pose with her arms crossed across her chest.
