From my recent "Art of Theatre" exhibition at Clowes Memorial Hall, the theatre at Butler University, Indianapolis, Indiana.
A dancer performs onstage while other members of the company wait their turn in the wings.
It's easy to paint something as beautiful as a dancer. There's beauty to spare, even if I don't capture it all. The challenge of my "Art of Theatre" series was to find the beauty in more ordinary, yet important, objects around the theatre. if I could hang a painting of a ballerina next to a painting of ropes on the fly rail, and people were wowed by the ropes, then my goal would be achieved.
