I wanted to create a piece that honored women "of a certain age," as the French say. I prefer that to the "crone" connotation, but that's just personal taste; the concept is universal. This collage--the sixth in a series of nine--features a portrait by John Singer Sargent. I like her flippant attitude in the painting, and I wanted a background and quotation that present her as a very strong and powerful force. I think that I succeeded.
