Media:  acrylic on canvas board
Dimensions:  9" x 12"
Date of Work:  June 2004

I love the colors in this painting! In fact, it began as a color study. I worked from a photo that I took while on vacation on Prince Edward Island (eastern Canada), where the soil is actually a pinkish-orange, and the green grass and other vegetation seem to glow in contrast. It is a fabulous place to visit, and even better to paint. This picture shows the scene looking across fields of flowers, towards the beach. Because the water is very clear and the sand is fairly pink, the ocean also looks pink towards the shore. The scan of this picture does not do it justice at all. This is one of my "happy" pictures, with colors that glow across the room, and cheer any setting even on a grey and rainy day. (There's a thunderstorm raging outside as I write this, and the colors in this painting still glow merrily.) This is an acrylic painting on 9" x 12" canvas board, unframed, and it's really lovely. It's my favorite painting that I've created so far this year.
