Across the street from the Bush compound in Maine, there is one of the loveliest salt marshes in New England. It's quiet, peaceful, and I have painted there many times because--with the Bush security cameras watching the road where I set up my easel--I feel very safe.
This painting shows the marsh in spring when grasses are just beginning to break the surface of the water, but the skies are blue and the foliage is very green.
I painted this with acrylics, but I'm using Brera (Italian) acrylics that are almost indistinguishable from oil paints. This painting took three days to complete, and it is a little gem.
The foliage ranges from yellows and lime greens, to the darkest possible purples.
I love this painting because it is such a peaceful and relaxing image, and nicely represents a favorite destination on the southern Maine coastline.
