I am a third-generation fine artist, and my art is about color and light, history and heritage.
On canvas, I work in whatever provides the most vivid and authentic color: Oil paints, acrylics, and sometimes collage.
My art is also about whimsy. It invites the viewer to enter an enchanted world. These pieces are generally fiber, particularly art dolls and wearable art, but also shrines and assemblages.
Sometimes, I make statements about the world we live in. However, more often I want to lift the veil of mundane living, and reveal the world that we saw as children, full of wonder, delight, and possibilities.
I revel in our modern world, but my paintings generally capture images reminiscent of the past, when life was simpler and--in some ways--happier and more relaxed. These are the feelings that I like to convey in my paintings.
Travel is a perfect way to revitalize how I view--and record--the world around me. Many of my paintings focus on places that I have visited and loved. I am best known for my landscape paintings, capturing rich colors and a sense of place on canvas.
My painting style reflects my admiration of the Impressionists, particularly the landscapes of Monet and Sargent, and the colors of Bonnard and Renoir. And, my subjects extend from my love of nature and history, especially personal and family history.
Online, I'm known under my 'nom de paintbrush' of Aisling D'Art. Since resuming my painting career, I've returned to my (real) maiden name of Eileen Morey. (Some people are more familiar with my first name as "Eibhlin," the Irish spelling.)
I'm a member of the York Art Association (ME), Concord Art Association (MA), International Plein Air Painters, and NH Plein Air.
My main website is Eileen Morey, fine artist.
