Media:  Acrylic
Dimensions:  18x24
Date of Work:  1999

At the time this work was created, I was going through many spiritual changes in my belief system. My questions within myself of a higher presence being possible had me visiting local churches while searching for answers. One night after attending a service, I came home and went into a trance where I heard a voice tell me to paint. I remember questioning that voice I heard, protesting I didn't have the proper tools (mine were in storage at the time) to create a painting, but the voice told me to continue and I did. So, with the guidance of this "voice" I painted for 3 hours completely unaware of time or place and let my hands fly over the canvas with a 2 inch wide house painting brush. Nothing was in my mind for that time period that I remember, only a feeling of being channeled by some unforeseen spirit who had taken over my body. Then, I found myself sitting in a chair, paintbrush in hand, staring at this being I had just painted with tears streaming down my face. What emotion is on this canvas! The meaning I get from it is that it is Jesus and he is crying over the state of the world. If you look real closely at his face, you will see the teardrops as he gazes at the world, the circle to his lower right. The interesting thing about this painting is that you can walk in any direction, and his eyes follow you. As you continue to look at it, you will see his face change as well as he gets younger and loses the beard and then he gets older.

I wasn't going to sell this painting as it held so much personal emotional value to me, but I finally feel more comfortable with m spiritual well-being and decided it's purpose for me had been fullfilled and so I am now offering it to someone else. I had it professionally framed and so the frame is included with it. If you are interested in purchasing it, please feel free to contact me or visit my website. Thanks for looking!
