Pat DeVane Burns
Primarily a nature artist, I draw from an intense love of all living things. I attended Governors' Honors at Wesleyan College, entered Berry College on a full-tuition art scholarship and have studied since then under Art Werger, Scott Duce and Marlin Adams. Schooling is great... however, my most stimulating experiences have been while painting with peer groups in the studio or plein air.
I enjoy painting on varied surfaces, often using metal, stone, wood or glass instead of canvas or hardboard. Winsor-Newton acrylics are my choice for the many surfaces that I use because the rich colors adhere so well. Oils are my preference for portraits, although lately I've found myself using them more and more for canvas work of all subject matter.
My realism has evolved into a looser, more intense statement of color and shapes that is more interpretive...more expressive...more me.
Currently my work can be seen in Georgia at Macon Arts in Macon, River Street Gallery in Savannah, Monroe County Arts in Forsyth and Forsyth Frame Shop in Forsyth.
