Sonny's art reflects a personal expression of her emotive insight
with nature. Whether it is a single vision derived from a flower
or the complexity of a compositional collage, her creations are
the impassioned result of blending external reality with what resides
within at the moment of her curious observation. Her experiences
and observations of Nature and fond memories from her childhood
are her immediate sources of inspiration.
Everyday scenes of nature become a dream-like abstraction in a lot
of her work. During the creative unfolding, she calls on both her
diverse experience and distinct sensitivity in working with colors
and compositions. Her style is modern and forms conceptual elements
that are striking and highly expressive, lending an extraordinary
flair to contemporary furnished homes or offices.
Her artistic interests include a variety of mediums such as charcoal,
screen printing, lithography, etching, block printing, digital art,
collage, and photography. Much of her work is a harmonious blend
of these mediums within a single piece, creating an elegant expression
of dichotomy.
Sonny is primarily a self taught artist, but has also received
professional instruction in some of the above mentioned mediums.
She enjoys experimenting with different techniques in rendering
exciting images not found elsewhere, making each finished work unique
and one of a kind. Part of her unusual process involves adding random
elements in some pieces, ensuring that no piece could ever be repeated.
Her art is in private collections all across the United States.
