Portraits
I am offering something a little different in portraits. You pick out a photo of yourself. Then I make multiple prints of the photo in various grains, paint over, around and behind the sitter and on the sitter. I arrange the duplicated images horizontally within a filmstrip setting. The piece is placed in a sliver frame with reflective glass. Thus, it appears as a painted portrait on a filmstrip. However, before framing, I randomly pick a literary segment from a piece of literature, which reminds me of the subject. I hand write the literary segments below each copied portrait.
The reason why I use reflective glass is so that the sitter can see him/herself in the then and now, (moving about as if in a film or as a still as if on a photo strip.) I randomly pick a literary segment that I feel reminds me of the sitter. (my input as an artist as how I see the sitter)
