"It's YOUR Life, So DESIGN It!"
"Art is a passion borne within, a sense of calm and my livelihood." I would describe myself as determined, passionate about art, self-taught artist with a love of life and law, a proud single mother, a perfectionist and willing to try any form or art at least once.
I have been dabbling in paints, pencils and an array of different mediums and art forms from the age of 3 and have loved it ever since. It has given me a kind of peace in all the hustle and bustle life throws at you and I was rewarded at the age of 11, where I was accepted into The Arts Training Institute of Victoria on a Scholarship, simply by submitting 3 drawings!
Unfortunately, I was still in school and given it wasn't a full scholarship, there were no funds to cover the rest (payable upon application) so didn't attend.
I went on to study art in high school but was hopeless at the theory aspect of art, in fact I hated it... I mean I was there to create, I did not want to learn about the history of art, no matter how imporant or relevant it was... so failed!! I was given high praise on a number of occasions from my art teacher for the art works I did, especially portrait work and having a "knack" for not squaring off as most drawers do, but art theory - NOT FOR ME!
I was lucky enough to work in a place where I learnt more about design from leading graphic designers and was fortunate enough to create items on a daily basis. I completed quite a lot of publications from the cover to the inner and back, flyers, brochures and the like and LOVED IT! But I do have other art loves - I LOVE traditional painting on canvas, and have sold quite a lot of work in this field, especially family portraits and continue this, amongst dabbling in other forms of art. My thirst for learning will never cease I don't think!
Art is my passion and I couldn't imagine my life without it, even with my gorgeous children around.. however it would appear my sons are also developing the taste for art so look out future art schools!
Speaking of which, I now sell on Etsy, and you can also find items I sell under the User ID "designinglife" at OZtion (the Aussie version of eBay, but ACCEPTS ALL FORMS OF PAYMENT, are kinder and cheaper!).. so click on the ADGET below or visit: http://www.oztion.com.au/secure/User/items/sell/user_itemselling.aspx for all my current listings!
Thank you for visiting me!
