The God poem examines expectations that are met under a disguise, and how we don't see that, because we are too focused on not getting what we expect.
The God Poem

By W.Rosson

I heard God wanted to meet me
So I felt the need to prepare my self
I plan on taking notes
And asking a lot of questions
I got a pretty new journal and sharpened my pencil

I would demand the answers
Yes, I would demand and command God to
give ‘em to me
God owed me
Owed me big time

I wondered what God looked like?
Would it be just a light?
A man? A woman? A goat? Or a dog?
So I waited
And waited
And waited
For God to come

I became restless and doodled
Here and there
I let my pencil ponder
My squiggle line became a pair of breasts
Loop de loops transformed into curly armpit hair
Little triangles looked somewhat like ears, but only for a moment
There was even a u shape, and if I squinted and turned the paper to the side
Well, I guess it could have been a hoof

Time dragged on
And I waited
Still no God
So I gave up and went home
Wondering why God had let me down again.
