Several years ago, I was the staff photographer for a National Wildlife Federation summit in Seward, Alaska. After a cruise on Resurrection Bay, where we viewed all manner of sealife, it was the black oystercatcher that made me smile. Its eyes & beak are brilliant ~ I simply had to paint it!
