Jakolof Bay, in southcentral Alaska, is a favorite place for my family to find low tide critters. We don't keep them -- just marvel at their uniqueness.
The area is biologically rich, so it's easy to find a variety of sea stars, anemones -- you name it!
I took a picture of a couple of scavagers at the shoreline last summer, and that's what I worked off of for this painting. It has great texture due to many layers of thick acrylic paint.
What the painting represents to me, is the healthy relationships sometimes missing between fathers & sons. It was heartwarming to see the teamwork, the learning, and the sharing on that bright sunny morning.
This painting was sold April 12, 2008.
