I originally painted this piece to hang in my own home in a place that we frequently redecorate based on the season. I wanted to create something with an Autumn theme and a New England feel to it. Unlike most of my other work, I took the photographs for this painting outside rather than in my studio.

I used the late afternoon sunlight to maximize the shadows and colors in the photograph. I then used photoshop to make some final adjustments. I used the digital photographs as the reference for the painting.

The paintng is on 140 lb. Arches watercolor paper.
