This piece is the result of a day spent antique shopping in Essex Massachusetts with my wife and daughter. After a few hours photographing our various purchases in various settings, I decided to hang the lantern and lobster bouy on an antique white cabinet we have in our house.

My goal for the painting was to capture the interesting shadows on the old white cabinet and also the woodgrain in the cabinet which has darkened and become more interesting with age.

The paintng is on 300 lb. Arches watercolor paper.
