I am a native Floridian currently residing in Lake City Florida with my husband. I am a self-taught artist and rt or some related form of creativity has always had an important place in my life from an early age. I was able to directy my attention to my first love, art, after spending ten years in the administrative field.
My earliest works are focused on landscapes in oil or acrylic in a fairly realistic style. I find inspiration in views from my own property located across from a farm or trips to the mountains and seashore and continues to develop my landscape series through new experiences.
Venturing into the more abstract mixed-media, I have begun creating a loose colorful and highly textured body of work unique to my experience. The many colors in the layers and transparent areas are visible among the many textures and painterly shapes of these depth-filled works. I feel my experimentation contributes to my enthusiasm and never-ending discovery of inspiration in surprising places. Despite long-held ideas about art I see nothing wrong with an artist having more than one style and medium anymore than actors stick to one type of role or singers only sing one style of music.
My paintings are featured at SoOh Fine Art Gallery in Lincoln, NE as well as at the Art and Craft shop at Stephen Foster Memorial State Park in White Springs, Florida. My work is in several private collections in the United States, Canada and England. I am also a founding member of the Art League of North Florida.
