Media:  Watercolor on Arches Paper
Dimensions:  8x11.5"
Date of Work:  2008

For the show "Vice" I have chosen a series that I had been working on independently of this show but neatly fit the description. In all I have incorporated a wine glass into the composition of the nude. The vice in this painting is red wine as suggested by the title, but perhaps there is more of a hint of sexuality and immortality suggested by the pose and expression on the woman's face. This is a sensitive and sensuous depiction of a nude reclining on a bed. She is drinking a glass of red wine. There is a beautiful glow and play of shadows across her body. The decorative pillow add a sumptuous quality to the piece. This watercolor is drawn by hand in pencil on watercolor paper and then painted with watercolor in a traditional manner. The piece is signed by the artist in archival black ink. The edges were taped before painting to leave a white border around the work.
