Media:  Golden Heavy Body Acrylics and graphite pencil on Canvas
Dimensions:  30"x15"
Date of Work:  11/30/03

This piece is very special because it was painted entirely with my fingers. I also used pencil to draw parts as you will be able to see in the detail jpegs. This Abstract espressionistic painting has iridescent pearl on touches of the face, but I could not get the effect on the jpeg. There is also gold Mica flake on parts of the black dress. This piece has quite the presence. This paiting is painted around the sides and will not need to be framed. There will be more using this technique in the near future when I return. I have started using myself in most of my paintings, so therefore, in a way it is a self portrait - mainly the face - and I change the hair at times. This piece I feel is real magical - I guess because I painted this while there is much turmoil in my family from my 80 year old mother having back surgery (and she still has not recovered and it has been 6 weeks), to my brother with Parkinsons having brain surgery, all within the past month - so emotions are raw and it is showing through in my art - thank God I do have my art ... I plan on doing a huge series of self portraits, since it is fairly difficult to get live models, clothed or nude.
