Rossana Kelton, award winning artist
A creative, fighting and self-taught spirit surrounded by art and science. I began painting when I was a child. I was always drawing and painting beautiful scenery. Oils were my favorite medium. Painting was more interesting than other school activities. I arrived in the United States in the 1970's from Montevideo, Uruguay. I lived in the New York area. I attended Seton Hall University and decided to pursue a career in the field of science. I continued pursuing art as a hobby. I found that art was relaxing and satisfying. I particularly enjoyed the challenge of working in oil paintings.
In college, I received some formal training in the form of a Studio Art course. This was an introductory course which I took as an elective. I really enjoyed working with different media but my favorite was oil. I enjoyed marine paintings, flowers, portrait and scenic paintings. Initial studies reflected my fight with oil paintings to obtain more realistic representations. I have received various awards and prizes for my work. I enjoyed competition and passionately seek to improve my technique to seek perfection. My work has been undergoing a unique metamorphosis. I began drawing but I continue to improve and try different techniques. I have explored different types of art including abstract art, watercolor and airbrushing. I have enjoyed airbrushing although I continue to work in oils. In my explorations, I have discovered the various facets of oil painting including portraits.
Although I received a Bachelor and Master of Science in Biology from Seton Hall University, my love and my passion will always be art. My ultimate goal is to pursue a career in art and to fulfill my dream of helping others through art.
