For years I have traveled the country showing my work, but at 65, I retired from exhibiting in art shows. I have a few galleries that show my art, but I miss the personal contact with people. I enjoy meeting the people who look and sometimes buy my work. It is important to me to receive input from those who react to my work, even their negative comments give me vital information and often inspiration.
Born near Springfield, Ohio in the late 30s, I received my first formal training when I was ten. I received a BA in Art/Art History after studying art in Ohio, Mississippi and Tennessee. Moving to Norman, OK in the 60s, I did some graduate work at the University of Oklahoma. Divorced, with four daughters, I began welding and working with various metals, trying to produce unique and interesting sculptures in 3D and low relief.
My work is in collections thoughout the world. I have won some prizes although awards have never held much interest for me. The act of creating and making a piece is what bring me pleasure. I hope you enjoy my work half as much as I have in making it. You may contact me at 405 329-0862, email at Joygibat@cox.net . My website at http://www.joygibat.com/
