The poppies in "Poppy Dreams" are a luscious shade of red, and were done in watercolor and ink. Poppies, in general, have been laden with symbolic significance throughout the ages and often represent sleep, oblivion (such as in a drug-induced state), or death/consolation in time of death. However, with this painting I had more in mind the imagination, pleasure (the red poppy), beauty, sacrifice, and freedom the poppy is also symbolic of.
This is an original Chinese brush painting on a 12x12" birch wood panel.
