One of the most rewarding times of my life was when I worked with a wonderfully inspiring theatre group, who call themselves the 'Freewheelers', at the Queen Elizabeth Foundation for the Disabled, in Surrey, England. They write, perform and produce simply magical puppet shows (I helped paint the scenery and make the puppets) and they travel around the country, delighting audiences of all ages, in small local theatres and schools, wherever they go. There is a role for everyone, no matter how severe their disability, and they work closely together as a team. They have enormous fun - as these happy, smiling faces clearly show! I made some wonderful lasting friendships and have many happy memories of the time I spent with them. I learned some very valuable 'Life' lessons from them too, such as never taking it anything granted and how sometimes sheer will-power and a positive attitude, as well as Faith and Love, can indeed overcome even the greatest adversity. It was truly a privilege to work with such a motivated group of young people- and a very humbling experience.
